The Gang is back!
CHICAGO – CHICAGO – MUSIC lovers, there is no need to trek all over the city to check out the amazing music during MOBfest weekend – You can put your navigation systems away, because the two-day music conference will be held exclusively in Wicker Park!
Heading into its 17th year, MOBfest will take place at one of Chicago’s premier live music venues residing at the Six Corners intersection of North Ave., Milwaukee Ave. and Damen Ave. Double Door will be hosting this year’s MOBfest on Friday, August 9, and Saturday, August 10, 2013.
During the two-day event, bands will be showcasing their music to a distinguished group of industry executives — giving young, unsigned bands the opportunity to play for a room full of “big-wigs” ranging from brand marketing specialists, advertising executives, managers, and record label representatives looking, all looking for the next big thing. Beyond the industry connections, there will be loads of new fans searching for that great new sound and a new local band to discover and support.
MOBfest (Music Over Business), Chicago’s preeminent music festival, came to life in the summer of 1997 with the help of some of Chicago’s most influential music and industry players. MOBfest was founded by Roger Jansen of KMA Management, one of Chicago’s top artist management companies. Now in its 17th year, MOBfest not only continues to be the leading showcase for dozens of artists for the record industry that converge in the city, but it has become known for hosting some of tomorrow’s biggest artists locally before they explode on the national scene. Past MOBfest showcases have included multi-platinum bands DISTURBED (Giant/Warner Bros. Records) and The Killers (Island DefJam), One Republic; in addition to a plethora of acts that showcased before they broke into the mainstream including Kill Hannah, Rachel Yamagata, Assassins, and some signed artists including The Figgs, Graham Parker and more.
Admission will be $5 ADV and $7 DOS for each day. This price includes your entrance to the showcases, the opening party on Friday, and the industry seminar on Saturday (both hosted at Double Door).
